  • Assessment can include supervised written exams, projects and graded practical work.
  • Grades are awarded in the French system, converted to ECTS where needed.

Semester dates

The academic year is divided into two semesters:

  • First semester (Fall): early September to late January
  • Second semester (Spring): late January to late May

Please note that exact dates (including exam periods) may vary slightly from year to year. Refer to the official academic calendar for the most up-to-date information.

Course locations

Computer Science courses are taught on two different campuses, depending on the level of study:

  • Bachelor’s (Licence) courses take place at the Esplanade Campus, in central Strasbourg. It’s close to the city center and easily accessible by tram (stop: Observatoire, lines C, E, F).
  • Master’s courses are held at the Illkirch Campus (Pôle API), just south of Strasbourg. The campus is modern, home to several engineering and technology departments, and can be reached by tram (stop: Campus d’Illkirch, lines A, E).

Make sure to check the location of each course before finalizing your learning agreement or schedule. Note that commute time between the two campuses is around 25-35 mn by tram.

Preparing for Your Mobility at the University of Strasbourg (Unistra)

For students coming from one of our partner universities, existing agreements allow for international mobility students to take courses for one or two semesters while validating their year at their home university. We recommend you read carefully the description of the courses offered to choose those corresponding to your field.

For more information, please consult the International Relations Office of your university to ensure that there is an exchange agreement with the University of Strasbourg

Incoming mobility students must select at least 50% of their ECTS credits at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. The remaining 50% (maximum) of ECTS credits can be selected in other faculties.

If the selected courses belong to different programs or levels, there may be timetable conflicts. We therefore recommend, as far as possible, that you choose courses from the same semester and the same program. Please contact our academic coordinators to check compatibility.

All courses offered by our faculty are taught in person (no remote learning).

The ECTS credit value of each course corresponds to its coefficient.
